Botox at SkinOvation Advanced Aesthetics
Botox has been used for over 30 years to prevent and treat expression lines caused by repeated movements.
The active ingredient in Botox is a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes the muscles in the face, preventing expressions that can cause wrinkles. With continued treatments, these lines smooth out, making you look younger and more relaxed. Botox can also be used for several medical applications.
Why Choose Us for Botox?
We’re proud to provide Botox injections to South Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain, Waynesville, Buncombe County and Henderson County. Our board-certified co-owners and founders perform all injections at the SkinOvation Botox Bar.
Wendi Harper-Lonabaugh serves as our director of aesthetic training and is a family nurse practitioner and cosmetic injector; Tina Franklin, our CEO, is a registered nurse and cosmetic injector.
Before and After Photos
Please note the patients featured in these images may have undergone other treatments in conjunction with Botox. This photo gallery does not guarantee that everyone who undergoes Botox will obtain these or similar results.
Who are the Best Candidates for Botox?
Most people in good health who want to prevent or reduce expression lines are eligible for Botox. You must be over the age of 18, not be pregnant or nursing and have no history of neuromuscular disease
What Can You Treat with Botox?
We use Botox to address several areas of the face as well as the neck.
Forehead
Botox can smooth out horizontal lines on the forehead created by overexpression or excessive raising of the eyebrows.
Between the brows
Glabellar lines, sometimes called 11 lines, are caused by furrowing the brow and can cause you to look permanently angry or concerned. Botox relaxes these muscles to soften those lines.
Corner of the eyes
Lines caused by smiling and crinkling the eyes, also known as crow’s feet, can be softened with Botox.
Bridge of the nose
Sometimes called bunny lines, these are creases that form on the bridge or sides of your nose when you wrinkle your nose. They’re treated with small quantities of Botox.
Upper lip
Small quantities of Botox can reduce the formation of vertical lines on the upper lip, often called smoker’s lines.
Chin
Overactivity in the muscles below your mouth can tug down the corners of your lips, causing you to look like you’re frowning. Botox injected into this area treats downturned lips as well as marionette lines – vertical lines that form between the corners of the mouth and jaw.
Neck
Platysmal bands are thick vertical bands that sometimes form on the neck with age. Botox injections relax this area, reducing the appearance of these unsightly bands.
Medical Uses for Botox
We also perform Botox for medical, noncosmetic purposes such as:
- Bruxism: a condition in which you clench or grind your teeth, leading to tooth damage, jaw disorders and tension headaches. Botox can be injected into the masseter (chewing) muscles to relax them
- Excessive sweating: this condition (hyperhidrosis) can be treated effectively with Botox; the neurotoxin blocks the nerve signals that activate your sweat glands
- Muscle spasms: Botox can relieve spasms in the neck, arms and elsewhere on the body
What to Expect During Your Botox Treatment
Once you’ve undergone your initial consultation, a visit to the SkinOvation Botox Bar is a simple procedure that can take place over a lunch break.
First, your provider will ensure you’re comfortable and answer any questions you may have. Then, they will inject the Botox into the treatment areas. Most patients don’t require a numbing cream, as the injections are no more painful than a quick pinch. The injections will take 10–15 minutes.
After your appointment, you’ll likely have a small red bump at each injection site – these are normal and will resolve within a few hours.
Your results will start to appear after approximately 3–4 days. However, it can take up to 14 days for maximum results to be visible. Your skin will appear smoother and look more refreshed.
Expect your first Botox treatment to last for 3–4 months. If you continue to receive injections, you’ll likely need them less frequently (every 6 months) as your muscles become accustomed to their new, more relaxed positions.
Alternatives to Botox
Depending on the areas you’d like to have treated and your unique needs, another similar injectable called Dysport may be a better choice for you than Botox. Dysport is more diluted, less viscous in texture, and spreads more quickly beneath the skin, making it a good choice for larger treatment areas such as the forehead.
Other anti-aging treatments we offer include dermal fillers, which restore lost volume to the face, and various chemical peels, which can address hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, loose skin and more. In many cases, these treatments can be used alongside Botox to rejuvenate your overall appearance.
How Much Does Botox Cost?
The cost of your injections depends on the amount of product you require as Botox is priced by the vial. For more information on our pricing, please give us a call.

Botox FAQ
Is Botox safe?
Botox is one of the most proven cosmetic injectables on the market. Side effects are rare but include drooping eyelids, crooked smiles or otherwise uneven results. For best results, be sure to receive treatment from a board-certified provider and follow all aftercare instructions.
How do I prepare for Botox?
For 2 weeks leading up to your appointment avoid drinking alcohol or taking aspirin or any anti-inflammatory medications. These medications thin your blood, increasing your risk of bruising.
What should I do after my appointment?
Avoid lying down for 3–4 hours after receiving Botox and refrain from vigorous exercise for 24 hours. Additionally, do not rub or put pressure on the treated areas. All these good practices will prevent the Botox solution from shifting in your face.
What’s the best age to get Botox?
Botox is approved for people aged 18 and older; you can start getting Botox as a wrinkle preventative as young as your mid-20s.
